Child Safety

ACT Child Safe Standards

Our school is committed to keeping children safe. As an ACT public school, we have adopted the 10 ACT Child Safe Standards and continue to work with the ACT Human Rights Commission to build on the existing child safe culture in schools to strengthen our practices in keeping students safe and well.

Keeping students safe online

Parents can play a key role in keeping their children and young people safe online. The eSafety Commissioner has a range of resources to help you keep your children and young people safe from harm online.

The ACT Education Directorate runs webinars each term to provide useful information and advice. Topics cover understanding the current online safety issues young people are experiencing, how to support your child to be safe online, resources for responding to online issues and where to go for more support. Personal electronic device, photo and video restrictions on preschool grounds

All ACT preschools follow the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority’s (ACECQA) National Model Code, which sets best‑practice guidelines for how personal devices, photos and videos are managed in early childhood settings.

What this means for our preschool families:

  • Taking photos or videos of preschool students on personal electronic devices is not permitted on preschool grounds, when attending preschool excursions, or as part of whole‑school events.
  • Only school‑issued electronic devices will be used to take photos or videos of students in accordance with Directorate policies ensuring safety, privacy and storage rules.
  • Preschool and Directorate staff may carry an authorised personal electronic device only for essential purposes (emergencies, health reasons, disability‑related communication, or urgent family matters) and not for taking photos or videos.

These guidelines help protect children’s privacy and create safe, respectful spaces for learning and play.
